Future Beef NZ
Congratulations to Barry and Bebette Buchanan and Craig and Vicki Sievers for their success in the Future Beef Hoof & Hook steer competition held in May in conjunction with Beef Expo. Full report will be posted in the Progress magazine.
The haul of ribbons by Murray Grey and MG X beasts was impressive, including the overall Hoof & Hook Champion Light weight Crossbred Steer-Brian, owned by Craig and Vicki Sievers.
Brian was placed 2nd on the Hoof in the Lightweight Crossbred Steer Class at the Future Beef
Hoof & Hook Competition held in conjunction with Beef Expo at Feilding May 2009. He went on to be placed 1st on the Hook in the Light weight Crossbred Steer Class, beat the Heavy weight Crossbred Steer to be Champion Crossbred Steer on the Hook and then was Overall Best of Breed Champion Crossbred steer when both Hoof and Hook points were combined.
Samantha was also placed 4th in the Intermediate Handler Class, after previous placings at Manawatu and Levin Shows earlier in the season.

Samantha Thompson, age 15, a pupil of Central Hawkes Bay College, leading a MG X steer, Brian, bred by Craig and Vicky Sievers of Pine Ridge Stud Waipukarau.

For those that have not already been contacted this event has been cancelled due to lack of forward interest.
Stock for Sale or Wanted
It has come to our notice that advertising stock for sale in this newsletter may be useful. New members looking for stock sometimes find it difficult to source and it could also be a method whereby older bulls with proven genetics could be utilised in other herds. If you have stock for sale or wanted please contact the Society for publication in the next newsletter with as many details as possible and a contact name, phone number and/or email address.

Generous Offer!
Waste Not Feeders, who have regularly advertised in our annual magazine, Progress, have this year offered us the choice of advertising or they will donate a round bull feeder for the Society to use as it wishes.
A suggestion has been made that the feeder is offered as a prize,
entry to which is gained by the members putting an
advertisement in the Progress magazine.
The size of advert gives you an increasing number of entries according to increasing size. eg Full page 6 entries, half a page 3 entries, third of a page 2 entries, sponsored page or business card size 1 entry.
The draw to be made before publication with the winner featured in the magazine. We are hoping to go to print late August so you need to get your adverts planned and submitted by the 8th August!
